Mărțișor Collection

 (MÉ™rtzishor)

Celebrated on the 1st of March, this Romanian tradition commends the beginning of spring, with the word Mărțișor meaning 'little March'. It is associated with an intertwined red and white thread with tassels that has a lucky charm attached, such as a ladybug, a snowdrop, a four-leaf clover or a chimney sweeper. These are usually gifted as either brooches or lapel pins, but bracelets, pendands and earrings are common as well, and are worn throughout March.

When I was younger this used to be one of my favourite times of the year, because I'd always get some nice jewellery and the smell of fresh flowers used to flood the streets!

Hope you'll enjoy this tradition as much as I do!
